Oh cool. Was it just a short trip for fun? I was wondering if many younger Koreans knew English also.

Most korean kids start learning english from a young age...but they still suck at it, because the teachers themselves tend to suck. For example, my mom was a french major, but she used to teach english. And my mom can't even speak english, showing you the quality of these english teachers.

But then, that was a while ago. English teachers may have improved since then. But I know a lot of korean immigrants, and all of them are terrible at english. Smile

yes, thats true. i cant say they suck but most of the time they pronounced words awkwardly.

thats also applicable in our case.

my korean friends always tell me i have added korean accent into my tounge but from time to time they notice im also awkward. so were just the same.

languages are just difficult to learn.

Thanks for the responses guys. I am trying to be able to understand basic korean, so I can at least follow small conversations. I think most Koreans would be suprised if a random white guy started trying to speak korean with them haha.

what does ¾È³çÇϼ¼¿ä mean? I only know how to speak some Korean, I cannot read or write anything. Do you think I should put more time into speaking and listening or reading and writing? and I will get plenty of pics for you guys hehe.

You should improve both. Would you really want to be illiterate in korean?

And ¾È³çÇÏ»õ¿ä means hello.

¾È³çÇÏ»õ¿ä===>¾È³çÇϼ¼¿ä

»õ to ¼¼ typo error
