well i live in canada. does that count as america? cause if it does then ours is french & english lol.. in the usa i always thought that the official languages were english and spanish but i guess that they dont have 1 lol..

Quote:
$1.5 billion is a rough estimate of how much the U.S. government spends annually on language education. Some programs are designed to replace minority languages with English, other funds are spent in support of "foreign" language studies to improve communication in the competitive global marketplace.

English Language Advocates reports that nearly 17 million Americans admit that they not do speak English very well, that the number of Americans who do not speak English has soared since the 1990 census, and that 18% of Americans do not speak English at home.

Before Columbus, roughly 300 languages were spoken here -- now almost half of those are extinct. Crawford projects that in another 50 years only 20 indigenous North American languages will be alive and spoken.

Who knows. IT could be that the fruit was named after the color or that the color was named after the fruit. So therefor it could be that 'Orange' came from the fruit instead of the Fruit coming from the color XD

Is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable?

Actually the official language is English, but there's always been talk of making Spanish an official language as well, though it's never been put into action as of yet.
I do love the fact that there are so many languages and cultures in America. I've met so many different types of people from around the world and it gets you interested in world cultures. My Korean friends are what inspired me to research Korean culture! Smile

Hmmm.....new question....why do hamburger rolls come in packs of 8 and hot dogs come in packs of 10?

becuase there is a huge cover up in the bread industry to create a high demand by creating an uneven market of bread to meat. You just never have enough of either or.

Why is it that jap anima cartoons always bleed through there nose, i mean I never bleed through my nose in real life.

Because they suffer from VERY high bloodpressure.

Why do TV-shows write "F*CK" or allow the character to say "What the f---" when everyone still knows what they mean?

Because they are trying to steal your heat

What is the point of subcultures when there seems to be no original culture?

Becuases it's better to keep classing people into smaller and smaller groups till you can just get ride of the select few you don't like.

Why is it that people say when you sneeze you are releasing evil spirits?
