Happy Valentine's day for you too !!!!!
actually, we don't have any word for valentine's day
the way we celebrate it is quite different.
on this day the girls give chocolates to the guyz who they like
and there is White day on 14th of march and on that day, guyz give candies to the girls.
i guess white day is only korean stuff and is a very commercial trick from those companies which make candies.. watever. but yeah that's the way we celebrate
the funny thing is since valentine's day and white day were made and became so popular, all the other companies want to use this trick to the young, so 14th of every month has the name.
can't remember all of them but like there're rose day, kiss day, cookie day etc
some young girls celebrate them but not as much as valentine's and white day .
with valentine's day and white day, pepero day is famous.
there is a famous korean snack, called pepero and it's a rod-shaped snack. that's why the day is 11th of november.
it's 11th month, 11th day. 1111 ->rod-shaped lol
apparently it's the trick of the pepero company but it gets great income on november
so.. hope this helps you to learn about one of the korean teen cultures !!!! |

Thanks French Vanilla, my girlfriend recently told me about white day and i thought she said wife day lol, but now i know its white, best i go get them candies, she gave me chocolates already.
Didn't know about the others, but thanks for the info its quite interesting, I'm sure we would have many more if we let the companies get away with it, kinda sad what they try just to get people to part with their money. |

I don't intend to be a true jackass now, but I hate Valentine's Day. All it does is making lonely guys and girls feel even more lonely, and people who are not lonely, even more appreciated, and I hate that for the sake of the poor lonely guys and girls. _________________ "If you can't make it good, at least make it look good."

I never used to be a great fan of Valentines Day, just another day when I had to spend MORE money! But now I'm in Japan and on the receiving end it's all good. It's a nice feeling getting heaps of chocolate from lots of cute girls. _________________ Itadakisourou shisounourou |

Zen, if I had a girlfriend in Korea and lived in Europe, I would consider each day away from her to be a painful, not just certain days because people happen to give away flowers on that day. Also, I almost think you can consider yourself to be lonely in this case, since you are physically lonely, if you know what I mean. _________________ "If you can't make it good, at least make it look good."
