For those who are serious about learning Korean, I'd advice for you to get Elementary Korean and Continuing Korean by Ross King and Jae-Hoon
Elementary Korean, I'd recommend the new 2004 edition.... my 1998 edition is not bad but the cd seems to have a few problems. It pronounces vocabulary and exercises for the first lessons but in the middle of the book, the exercises are ommited and only lesson conversation is voiced (every lesson has a conversation piece. Also some words in the book do not coincide with words used on the cd. Furthermore, the answers in the back of the book sometimes do not coincide with the questions in the book.
I don't know exactly whether the 2004 edition has this problem corrected or not, but perhaps it might. also the 2004 edition seems to be bigger, more pages. The cost is the same though. If you can't get the 2004 edition, I'd still recommend the older edition over anything else.
Though, I believe there's another series for learning Korean that consists of 8 books is is rated very highly as well, that may be a good series to go with as well. |

sorry, i was just searchin around and found this...
one of my ex's was korean and she taught me a lot of korean herself... most of it was the proper stuff and she also taught me some colloquial stuff too.. she found this book and thought it was hillarious so she bought it for me. It's called "Making Out In Korean" by Peter Constantine and revised by Gene Baik. Its all about colloquial korean and its quite interesting what you can learn from it too..... could help when you wanna impress some ladies or vice versa |

I actually have both books mentioned above (Elementary Korean & Making Out In Korean). I have the new 2004 edition of Elementary Korean. I haven't gotten that far in the book just yet, but I find it to be very helpful and is so far putting me in the right track to learning Korean. Making Out In Korean, I picked up at a borders. I flipped through the book and I thought it was so funny. I had to have it. Most of the things you find in that book can't be found in my textbook. I also purchased My First 100 Words in Korean. I haven't really used that either, but I want to use that book to help build my vocabulary. Now I just wish I could find a good workbook to use as well. _________________ Listening to 1TYM while you cook and clean isn't very hard core... |

I just ordered Elementary Korean and Minjung's Pocket English-Korean & Korean-English Dictionary to get me started. I've read a lot of good reviews about Elementary Korean. Hopefully it'll live up to the expectations. |

| on your very hand side under the logo TUTTLE there is a search "search within this book" and as default it should indiccate making out in korean and all you need to do is click on go. On the following screen you just need to select the page within the book you want to view. |

The Elementary Korean and Continuing Korean (along with a book called Modern Korean) is an excellent way to go. If you don't mind not having pretty pictures and just care about learning the language thoroughly, I highly recommend that route. I also recommend the Integrated Korean series. It is also very good. There Are 4 levels, each consisting of two books. Each book has 15 Lessons I believe and it is an excellent series as well.
Making out in Korean is also really good, but only if you get the new revised edition. The older edition is only romanization, and does not contain hangul at all. The new edition has both. It will contain vocabulary you won't learn anywhere else! Definately needed to really understand Korean and not embarrass yourself when you ask someone what certain words mean and they give you a look of disgust. _________________ www.learnkoreanlanguage.com
