Hi All,
One small question.
My 11 year old daugher has just started Taekwondo a couple of months ago, and we wanted to put her name in Korean on her dubok.
Here name is "Lisa", and -based on what I find online-, in hangul, this would then be "¤©¤Ó ¤µ¤¿" (in two groups of two symbols, for each sylable).
Can somebody confirm or deny if this is correct?
(This is just to be sure, as my wive says she wants to be 100% sure it is correct before the stiches it on the dubok).
Many thanks in advance, and
Cheerio! Kr. Bonne.

Hi "Koreanlearner".

Great, thanks!
An additional question.
I was browsing throu the wikipedia's pages on Hangul in some different languages (the advantage of understanding multiple languages ), and the french language wikipedia page said this about the "¤©": "r devant une voyelle, l devant une consonne ou en fin de mot."
(r before a vowel, l before a consonant or at the end of a word).
How exactly does the choice between "r" and "l" for the rieul work? If somebody from Korea would read "¸®»ç" (not knowing it's a name) how would he/she pronounce it? Lisa or Risa?
Is there a way to "force" a rieul being read as a "r" or an "l"?
Thanks for explaining.
Cheerio! Kr. bonne.

¤© is "R" if it is located at the top of the syllable like "¸¦" (reul)
¤© is "L" if it is located at the end of the syllable like "¹°" (mul)
¤©¤© is always "L"
other examples
¼Õ°¡¶ô (sonkarak)
³»ÀÏ (naeil)
Èê·¯°¡ (heulleoga)
in foreign names and words these rules are not applicable. they are rather written by phonetics or only by their pronounciation.
like my name:
ron (·Ð)
lisa (¸®»ç)
larry (¶ó¸®) it believe it cant be (¶ö¸®) (ralli)(lalli)

The way it has been explained to me (I reviewed it today to make sure) is that ¤© is pronounced as 'l' only when it is between or after vowels, as it makes it easier to pronounce.
That said, Lisa is not a Korean name, so the best you could achieve in ÇѱÛ, the korean writing system, would be a Korean interpretation of the English name. But I'm sure any Korean would understand by her complexion and the context that it says 'Lisa' and not 'risa.'
