I'm not sure this could be an answer you want.
Seoul's ppl is high, so you may feel average price is expensive.
But here is full of fun. You'll not be bored.
Korea is a homogeneous nation, so if you don't look like an Asian, you may feel uncomfortable for being as a foreigner sometimes.
You don't need a car, because subways and buses are convenience.
You need traffic card when you use public transportation.
Sorry, my English is far from perfection.-_-;;; |

Well it's actually very cool. I've spent for months in Yonsei university in shincheon. It is really the best university to learn korean, more than seoul university cause they have well developped international department. It's so easy to hang out with korean there and to make friends. there's plenty of group and entertainments (I end up cooking pan cake in the main street of the campus with my french friend and we we're on the new paper!).
I actually enjoyed PC bang a lot (maybe too much) because it was much less expansiv than in France (now it's the same).
Althought, what is really interesting is the restaurant. They are cheap, quick and food is tasty. While in france it takes 15-30 minutes to get your food in a "fast-food" (Mac Do), in Korea, you get a cheaper and much much tastier meal in les than 10 minutes!!!!!
There's also gigantic mall or commercial borough. I actually went the first time in korea to study Namdaemun market as a thesis topic. It was great. And if you don't have a guide, you can easily be lost. There's tons of small (and dirty) streets, thousand of people walking besides you and nearly every merchandise can be found in this market. I spent amazing time walking in those streets, studying merchant behavior and interviewing store owner and managers.
Althought if you just pass by, you got to go by the food vendor alley. The restaurant owner in that little street filled with restaurants, will grap you and try to drive you inside their shop. They gonna try every language they to entice you inside... hihi. In my case they called me "handsome boy"... |

| My experience living in korea for two years was amazing. The people are incredibly nice and helpful, especially if they know you are learning korean. They love it when foreigners try to learn it, i think because few poeple do. I think they also like to see you struggle a little, b/c they had to go through it learning english all growing up. I lived in the south in Àü¶óµµ for the most part, though i have spent a few weeks in ¼¿ï. I wasn't a student, so i can't tell you what it's like as a student there, but i can tell you that it can be really hard if you don't understand and speak at least some korean. A lot of people i know have gone there and hated every minute of it b/c they never knew what was going on and not many people (at least in the south) speak much english. It truely is an amazing place though, but too crowded for me to ever live there. Always have been and always will be a small town kid. If you have any specific questions about korea i can probably answer them for ya. Hope that was at least a little informative. Oh, and i agree with the above about food joints. They are the best, and cheapest food anywhere. I wish i could eat that cheap here. |

Well, I don't think it's too complicated to study korean in Korea if you are a foreigner.
In my I went to Korea through the (American) university network called ISEP. I suscribe to a semester in Yonsei university, which is certainly the best university regarding international matter (and the second one in korea after todae but much before Kolyo hahaha!! I say that in case you didn't know)
Anyway, there is a program for international student and everyone can apply. You got very good teacher in there and very different kind of nationality. For the accomodation you can live in the international residence on the site of Yonsei university.
I guess you can find all the information you need on the web site of the university. |
