I thought of one possible improvement that this site could use. I think we need to somehow get the members on this board to post more threads in Korean, regardless of how fluent they may be in Korean.
On this board, new members will often introduce themselves and ask for help on their Korean but not post anything in Korean. If people practice their Korean more, they can learn how to express their ideas first and then worry about the grammar later.
Administrators, what do you think? |

Of course we thought this was an idea, long ago... That is why we added the Hangul forum onto the boards ^^
Now all we can do is try encourage members to use it.
But you must understand that people may feel shy/embarrassed if they make mistakes. (but they don't need to be ) we all make mistakes; and we are here to help ^^ |

even if you make a mistake there, you won't be ridiculed for it. i just remember that when i was in shincheon back in march, i was trying to order some nuggets from McD's and man . i didn't have my glasses and couldn't make out some of the hangeul; so according to what i thought i saw, i told the clerk "nugget 10 chokka chuseyo. but i was kinda dumbfounded when i only received 4 nuggets. after i went out and bought some ahn-gyeongs (glasses), i realized that the "10" that i saw was for something else and that chicken nuggets only come in 4-pieces. so, i always ended up ordering 2-3 sets of nuggets and i had no problems since.
however, i had a friend with me who was in korea for his first time ever. he just wanted 2 sandwiches. the clerk said, "settu weon-hashimneeka"? he, was a bit frustrated with the language so he was like "yeah, whatever". me and the others are upstairs eating our food and he comes up with 2 trays of food. we asked him if he was that d@mn hungry. he said, nothing and just ate the food. so, to all those who have not been to a McD's in korea..........[b:de6ade3419]Settu[/b:de6ade3419] (Set) is the korean equivilent to our [b:de6ade3419]Value Meal[/b:de6ade3419]. also, the cups there are [b:de6ade3419]Real Cups and not the Paper Cups that we use here[/b:de6ade3419], so turn them in where you turn in the trays. i threw away like 3 of those things before i got the picture. And don't go there for lunch........you'll pretty much be SOL for seating.....even if you're alone.
just something for the back of the mind. |
