Try Declan Software's Korean learning software - it has worked for me. I especially liked the Korean HakGyo software that teaches grammar.

this is only good if you're interested in learning more vocabulary. it doesn't really go into grammar or anything. and you also need to know the alphabets and have a dictionary at hand. but their concept is good because it makes you remember it by pictures so when you see or hear the word you will automatically know what it is, not translate it into the language you know fluently.
i have it and i'm saving it for later when i'm more fluent in the language ^__^ |

I used Rosetta Stone and found it handy for learning Vocab.
I used it along with Teach yourself Korean book and Let's Speak Korean TV show and found it complemented my studies.
Just don't expect miracles from it. I was given a free copy of this so I had no complaint about the price |

I had a look at Rosetta Stone but found it sometimes too confusing because of a lack of translations. Sometimes the pictures are ambiguous and you do not really know what the meaning is. But I like the audio-visual approach a lot.
Recently I found a program called L-Ceps Personaltrainer Korean that is very useful: http://www.l-ceps.com/en/korean/learn-korean-ptrainer.html
It has a similar visual approach to language learning but offers also translations (if required) and it starts with common Korean phrases which is quite helpful. I actually like it more than Rosetta and it is also way cheaper. |

lol are you kidding me? i read your post literally 10 min too late
As for Rosetta Stone : yea it's very good but only for vocabulary building (nouns, verbs, adjectives but no expressions like 'thank you' I guess). You learn to associate words with concepts directly instead of with other words in a different language. This makes the process of recalling words easier and more natural. It effectively sidesteps the crutch of learning Korean through an intermediary language.
There's a lot of content too, but it does get tedious after a while so you better mix it up with something else. |
