The Women's Development Institute says the amount of household chores Korean homemakers do is equivalent to jobs that would be remunerated with more than W1 million (US$1,000) a month. The total amount of unpaid housework done mostly by married women was worth an estimated W219 trillion annually. That is almost 30 percent of Korea's gross domestic product.
The study supports growing sentiment from Korean women that housewives are skilled workers who not only cook and raise kids but also map out future economic plans for the household. The study suggests that Korean men spend too little time doing housework compared to women, spending on average of 46 minutes per day on chores. That's only some 25 percent of the time American and German men spend on housework.

The study finds that Korean women spend 4 hours and 9 minutes on their daily household chores, much longer than their counterparts in the U.S. (4 hours and 2 minutes) and in Germany (3 hours and 38 minutes).

wah...4 hrs doin nothin' but cleanin, cookin and lookin after the babies...
whow im glad im not a housewife and not planin' anytime soon...

my mum works and comes home to cookin's and cleans each day and she does her 'extrem cleaning' on the wkend, and dad while dad did help with cleanin the livin rm. it took him abt the whole mornin to do so but none the less he did somethin to help her out...it was taught to us that the women stays home and takes care of the house and kids and the men goes out and do the hard work and ''brings home the bacon'' but seein from this that if the housewives were to get paid for their work, they'd bring in a good amt. for money into the house monthy...i laugh when i hear the sayin 'the man wears the pants in the house' but in truth the women does becuz she's the one keepin things the way they are.

Thanx for sharin the info. -cuteboa13-

yap thats true....all married woman just stayed home to raise their kids,,to take care their husbands.......all house work must the wives makes everyday....if the husband arrived their homes the wife will serve them.....but nowadays is some defferent coz mostly of the young generation they got their career,,,,they have their jobs..but in korea domestic helper is not allowed....unless your rich.....but to get dh from other country is imposible...here we dont have our helper we should to woke up early to prepared something to eat....cleaning the house and everything.....
the husband should be more hard working....if the husband cant reach the 3000us dollar a month...the wife will force to work to help their husband..but if the man has that salary a month is reasonable to the wife to take care their family...

korean are strict in terms of cleanliness inside their house.......
